We Compared 5 Leakproof Underwear Brands for Bladder Leaks: These Are the Best of 2026

Some women get through the whole day without thinking about their bladder once. Others have already tried three brands and still carry a spare pair in their purse. The difference often comes down to things nobody checks before buying. We put five of the best-known options side by side.

A grandmother running and laughing across a park lawn with her grandchild
The right underwear means laughing, sneezing and running after the grandkids without a second thought.

If you leak a little when you laugh, cough or pick up a grandchild, you’re in good company: in a University of Michigan poll, about half of women over 50 said they have bladder leaks. And most of them reach for something to manage it.

Why it starts after 50

Around menopause, estrogen falls, and the tissue that keeps the bladder closed gets thinner and weaker. Add pelvic floor muscles stretched by childbirth, and a sneeze or a laugh can push a little urine out before you can tense up.

But not all leakproof underwear is the same

“Leakproof” isn’t a protected term. Underwear sold for periods, for very light drips and for real bladder leaks can look almost identical in a photo. What separates them is in the details: what it’s made for, how much it holds, and what you can do if it doesn’t work for you.

How we compared

We looked at five of the best-known options sold in the US for women with bladder leaks, and rated each one on seven things that matter, using only what each brand publishes on its own website or store listing (checked October 30, 2026).

How we rated

5 products compared

  • DryGuard Leakproof Underwear
  • Thinx For All Leaks, Light, Hi-Waist
  • Everdries Cotton Leakproof Underwear
  • Knix Super Leakproof High Rise
  • Depend Silhouette, Maximum

Rated 1 to 10 in seven areas

  • Reusable, soft fabric: Reusable cotton: 10. Reusable, other fabric: 9. Single-use: 4.
  • Layer build: Brand states 4 layers: 10. Brand describes a 3-part liner: 8. Layers not stated: 7.
  • Odor control: As stated by the brand. Odor control and antibacterial claim: 10. Odor control: 8. Neither stated: 6.
  • Price per pair: Lowest price per reusable pair: $15 or less: 10. $15–25: 8. Over $25: 6. Single-use: 4.
  • Returns: Returns or trial on every pair, 30 days or more: 10. First pair only: 6. Not applicable: 5.
  • Customer reviews: Star rating × 2 (4.8 stars = 9.6). We use an independent rating where there is one: the product’s listing at a major retailer, or else the store’s Trustpilot rating. If there’s neither, the rating on the brand’s own store.
  • Stated wash life: How many washes the brand says a pair lasts. 200 or more: 10. 100–199: 8. 50–99: 7. Under 50: 5. Reusable, no number given: 6. Single-use: 5.

The overall score is the average of the seven, to two decimal places. We list how much each one holds, as the brand states it, but don’t score it, because brands measure absorbency in different ways. These are our own ratings, not an independent test, and we make DryGuard.

The five, in detail

DryGuard leakproof briefScore9.66

Of the five, DryGuard is the one that ticks every box for everyday bladder leaks. It’s made for bladder leaks, not periods. Its 4 layers pull moisture away from your skin, hold it in an absorbent core and keep it off your clothes, and the brand gives a clear number: up to 60 ml. It’s soft cotton you machine wash and wear again.

3 pairs cost $69, about $23 a pair, with 6- and 9-pair packs if you want a full week’s rotation. And if it doesn’t work for you, there are 30-day returns and a free first size exchange.

In short

All five are sold to women with bladder leaks, but they’re built for different things. Thinx holds the most of the reusable options but doesn’t say how it’s built. Everdries is cheap and cotton but holds about a third as much. Knix is first and foremost a period brand. Depend holds the most of all, but you throw every one away. DryGuard is the one that does well on every count: made for bladder leaks, a clear 60 ml, 4 stated layers, soft cotton and easy returns.

Our verdict

DryGuard comes out on top with a score of 9.66/10, for four reasons:

  1. It’s made for bladder leaks. Not a period product with a new label: the protection and its 4 layers are designed for the sudden leak from a cough, a laugh or a sneeze.
  2. It tells you what it holds. Up to 60 ml (about 2 oz), enough for the everyday leaks most women have.
  3. It’s built in 4 layers. A soft top layer, an absorbent core, a waterproof barrier and an outer fabric, each with one job. Not every brand tells you how its underwear is built.
  4. It’s easy to try. Soft cotton you wash and wear again, sizes XS–4XL, 30-day returns and a free first size exchange.

If your leaks are heavy, or you need protection overnight, a maximum-absorbency disposable is still the safer choice. For everyday leaks, DryGuard is our recommendation.
